RSD49 project

RSD49 project was developed by Marine Engineering Bureau on the order of the Nevsky Shipbuilding-Shiprepair plant and meets all the requirements of international conventions.

Self-propelled dry-cargo RSD49 vessels are intended for transportation of general, bulk, timber, grain and oversized cargoes as well as hazardous cargo of classes 1, 1.4 S, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 of IMDG Code and Appendix “B” of HSC Code in the Caspian, Mediterranean, Black, Baltic, White, Northern seas, including routes around Europe and on the Irish sea during winter.

The RSD49 vessels refer to “Volga-Don max” class according to the classification accepted by Marine Engineering Bureau. It means they have the maximum possible displacement and dimensions for the Volga-Don Shipping Canal.

These vessels can be used for transportation of general, bulk, timber, grain, oversized and hazardous cargo in international traffic.

Cargo holds are equipped with “Folding” hatch covers made by “Cargotec McGregor”. They provide complete (100%) holds opening.

Large middle hold of 52 meters length is the feature of RSD49 project vessels. It enables to transport oversized project cargoes in one-way voyage from Europe to the Caspian Sea.

Two medium-speed diesel engines “Wartsila” with average speed of 1200 kW each are used as main engines. They operate on heavy fuel with viscosity up to 380 cst.
